At Lita Stays, we believe accommodation can do more than provide a comfortable place to stay, it can also help support the communities around the homes we manage.
The approval of Universal Studios in Bedford is set to bring significant growth, tourism, and opportunity to our region. But it is also accelerating a shift we have been watching with concern. Properties that were once available for children in care and affordable family accommodation are disappearing into a soaring short-term rental market, driven by demand that shows no sign of slowing.
As operators of serviced accommodation in and around Bedford, we have seen this up close. We have watched the ripple effects of a booming short-term rental market, combined with Bedford Borough Council's recent financial challenges, translate into real consequences for local children and families. This compelled us to act.
As entrepreneurs with a vision rooted in purpose and long-term impact, we decided to create the Stay and Support initiative, donating 5% of the profit made from direct bookings on the properties we manage to support local schools.
We are proud to have partnered with Sheerhatch Primary School as our first initiative partner. Find out more.
